We know from scripture that only God should be worshipped (Exodus 34:14, Matthew 4:10). Therefore, in order to be worshipped, the Holy Spirit must be regarded as God.
Who is the Holy Spirit?
The Holy Spirit is the Spirit of God (Ephesians 4:30). God is a triune God who manifests himself in three persons (the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit). The Godhead of the trinity who is often labelled as “God” is the Father but the Holy spirit is the third person of the trinity. Although, he is own distinct person and has his own role within the trinity (John 15:26).
Matthew 28:19 ~ Therefore, go and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit.
Just like we have our parents (the mother and the father) who are one unit, we also have God who is one unit but a triune God.
2 Corinthians 3:17 ~ For the Lord is the Spirit, and wherever the Spirit of the Lord is, there is freedom.
Anyone that claims to be a child of God must have God dwelling within them which they receive upon salvation (declaration of their faith in Jesus as the saviour). The God that dwells within them is the Holy Spirit.
Romans 8:9 ~ But you are not controlled by your sinful nature. You are controlled by the Spirit if you have the Spirit of God living in you. (And remember that those who do not have the Spirit of Christ living in them do not belong to him at all.)
He was there at the beginning of creation (Genesis 1:2) and he created you too.
Job 33:4 ~ The Spirit of God has made me; the breath of the Almighty gives me life.
Can you worship the Holy Spirit?
John 4:24 ~ For God is Spirit, so those who worship him must worship in spirit and in truth.”
The Holy Spirit is part of the trinity and he is your creator. Yes, you can and should worship the Holy Spirit. This act is fulfilled when you direct your worship to God as they are One but you can also worship the Holy Spirit directly.
