Was Daniel in the bible a eunuch?

The old testament displays the roller-coaster relationship Israel (Northern Israel and the Kingdom of Judah) had with God. There were good times and bad times and the good times were filled with them living in obedience and enjoying God’s promises. However, majority of the time, they would succumb to the influence of the nations around them and worship false idols. This made God extremely angry and he warned them several times but they never really listened. Fed up and betrayed, God made plans to boot them from the promise land he gave to them.

In the book of Isaiah, we learn that the Kingdom of Assyria had been bothering the kingdom of Judah and their King, Hezekiah, fell ill and prayed to God for mercy (Isiah 38). God spared him and he recovered. Upon hearing this, the King of Babylon (a large empire) sent gifts and letters through his envoys to congratulate Hezekiah on his recovery, and of course Hezekiah was delighted by this. He had a large empire (Assyria) who had conquered Northern Israel on his doorstep attempting to conquer Judah and now he had Babylon on his doorstep wanting to be his friend. This pleased him so much that he showed them everything in his empire which turned out to be a big mistake. God responds by sending Isaiah to inform him of what would happen in the near future .

This prophecy eventually came to pass. By the time we get to the book of Daniel, we learn that Babylon has conquered Judah (Daniel 1:1). The king then orders the chief of the eunuchs to bring some of the young men from the royal and noble families of Judah to serve in his palace and Daniel happened to be one of them (Daniel 1:6).

From the prophecy in Isaiah 39:6 to Daniel being put under the care of the chief of eunuchs, we can infer from these scriptures that Daniel was a eunuch. However, there is no express writing in the Bible that confirms it. In addition, the bible does not mention Daniel having a wife or children so many take this as confirmation that he was a eunuch but this isn’t certain.
