The book of Matthew and Luke both list the genealogies of Jesus. Scholars speculate that Matthew’s genealogy follows Joseph’s bloodline and Luke follows Mary’s.
The book of Matthew starts the genealogy from Abraham but luckily, we don’t have to go all the way back to Genesis to dig it out because Luke picks it up from Abraham and links it to Adam.
Luke 3:34 ~ …Isaac was the son of Abraham. Abraham was the son of Terah. Terah was the son of Nahor.
Luke 3:38 ~ …Enosh was the son of Seth. Seth was the son of Adam. Adam was the son of God
Regardless of which genealogy we follow, whether Matthew’s or Luke’s, they both link to Abraham who we now know was a descendant of Adam and Eve’s third son, Seth.
